Justin Anastasi, the CEO of VentureMax – a company that invests in iGaming startups – said Malta should find solutions to address the problem of street garbage blocking access to pedestrians.

In a TikTok video, Mr Anastasi recounted how he recently saw a father walking his wheelchair-bound son through a Birkirkara footpath, only for his access to be blocked by several garbage bags.

“Every few seconds, he had to stop to move the garbage bags aside so that he could continue pushing his son through the footpath – my heart went out to him,” he said.

The entrepreneur said that while a lot of public discussion on accessibility tends to focus on major infrastructural projects, these basic daily problems need to be addressed too.

“These are fundamental issues that people struggle with everyday but never seem to be properly addressed,” he said.

Mr Anastasi concluded by saying that while he has a few ideas on how this problem can be tackled, he wants people to take some time to reflect on it first.

“We should think about these issues that are impacting our lives everyday and ask ourselves whether we deserve better. I do, and I don’t think this is a difficult problem to fix.”
