Team Polti VisitMalta continued to showcase Malta on the international sporting stage with a determined performance at the UCI World Tour Copenhagen Sprint, while also celebrating success closer to home during the national championship week.

The team competed in the 228.2-kilometre Copenhagen Sprint, one of the UCI World Tour calendar's newest one-day races, held in challenging wet conditions that tested riders with rain-soaked roads, high-speed attacks and a crash-affected finale.

Representing Team Polti VisitMalta were Manuel Peñalver, Giovanni Lonardi, Tommaso Bessega, Dario Igor Belletta, Mirco Maestri, Andrea Pietrobon and Gabriele Raccagni.

Dario Igor Belletta and Mirco Maestri both navigated the decisive split in the peloton to finish safely in the second chasing group, just 20 seconds behind race winner Jasper Philipsen.

While the team's sprinters were unable to contest the finish after a late crash disrupted their lead-out, Team Polti VisitMalta completed the race with all riders safely through the demanding final kilometres.

Alongside its international campaign, the team also enjoyed notable success during the traditional national championship week.

In Malta, Team Polti VisitMalta secured victory in the Maltese Time Trial Championship through Andrea Mifsud, who claimed the national title, while Aidan Buttigieg finished runner-up to complete a one-two finish for the team.

The result marked Team Polti VisitMalta's second victory of the season and its second one-two finish, reinforcing the partnership's growing presence both locally and internationally.

Commenting on the team's performances, Chairman of the Malta Tourism Authority, Charles Mangion, said Team Polti VisitMalta continues to represent Malta with distinction on the international sporting stage.

"Their resilience, professionalism, and competitive spirit reflect the values that Malta proudly promotes worldwide. Through high-profile events such as the Copenhagen Sprint and the national championships, the team continues to strengthen Malta's visibility as a dynamic destination associated with excellence, endurance, and ambition," he said.

Team Polti VisitMalta will next compete in a busy summer programme that includes high-altitude races before returning to Malta for the Maltese National Road Race on 12th July.
