The Royal Malta Yacht Club (RMYC) has appointed architect Godwin Zammit as its Honorary President, following a unanimous decision by the Club’s Committee.

Mr Zammit has been a member of the RMYC Committee since 2000 and has held several key leadership positions, including Rear Commodore Racing, Rating Officer and Race Committee Chairman of the Rolex Middle Sea Race. He also served as Club Commodore for nine years.

Beyond the Club, Mr Zammit was the first Chairman of Yachting Malta following its establishment as a public-private partnership in 2015 and continues to contribute to the sport as a National Judge.

As an architect, he also played an important role in the development and enhancement of the Royal Malta Yacht Club's premises in Ta’ Xbiex.

Commenting on the appointment, Club Commodore Mark Napier said: “Through his years of dedicated service on the Committee and as Commodore, and his ongoing commitment to the advancement of sailing and the continued development of our Club, Godwin has demonstrated exceptional dedication, integrity, and vision. His contribution has earned the respect and admiration of sailors and club members alike, and his continued association with our Club is both an honour and an inspiration.”
