Mdina Partners has confirmed that its collaboration with leadership coach and entrepreneur Nathan Farrugia has come to an end, just seven months after the company announced a strategic merger with his advisory business, UP Your Level.
The partnership was unveiled in November 2025, when Mdina Partners said the integration would strengthen its corporate training, leadership development and HR advisory services by bringing Farrugia's expertise and team into the organisation.
In a statement issued on Tuesday (yesterday), Mdina Partners said all relevant employees and ongoing client engagements will remain within the company, ensuring continuity across current projects and client relationships.
Mr Farrugia will continue to focus on Vistage as well as his sports-related business interests independently of Mdina Partners.
“Our priority is to ensure continuity and stability for our clients and our team. The relevant employees will continue within Mdina Partners, and ongoing engagements will proceed as planned. We remain committed to delivering professional support and continuity to our clients,” said Mdina Partners CEO Alex Galea.
The company added that it remains focused on its advisory, training, coaching and organisational development work, supporting businesses in strengthening leadership, people management and organisational performance.
When the merger was announced in November, Mdina Partners described the move as part of a wider strategy to expand its people and performance practice. Farrugia had said at the time that both organisations shared a common vision centred on leadership development and helping organisations grow.
In a post published on LinkedIn following the announcement of the separation, Mr Farrugia described the move as a “natural evolution”.
“Mentoring CEOs and inspiring leaders is at the heart of my ikigai,” he wrote.
Farrugia said he will now focus fully on growing Vistage across Malta, the UAE and Iceland, while also expanding sports events including XTERRA, MediTerra and Colour Run into new markets.
He also said he intends to continue his work with the Academy of Givers, the Lino Spiteri Foundation and Inspire.
“The Academy and training team remain in great hands with Mdina – continuity matters,” he added.
Neither Mdina Partners nor Mr Farrugia provided further details regarding the reasons behind the end of the collaboration
