QuickLets Zanzi Homes, the real estate agency that revolutionised Malta's property sector with its data-driven methods, is expanding into Cyprus.

The company first launched in Malta’s Mediterranean neighbour in February 2020, but the pandemic quickly put an end to Co-Founder Steve Merciecas "dream to go international”.

“We were actually in Cyprus in the beginning of March 2020, when Malta only had one positive case," says Mr. Mercieca, who also serves as the company's CEO.

Once COVID hit, the company had to focus on the local operations, but now that Malta’s property sector has settled, it is turning its sights back to Cyprus.

“We are doing quite well there. Our COO, Fabio Zuccaro, has been there for almost six months, working on getting everything running smoothly. We also sent one of our top managers, Andrea Bonanno, to run the sales team.”

Together, the pair are responsible for pushing the culture of the brand and instilling their Cypriot teammates with the QLZH spirit.

So far, the Cyprus operation is dedicated solely to the rental market. “We want to establish the QuickLets brand before launching Zanzi Homes – but that is coming up soon.”

Mr Mercieca’s excitement when talking about Cyprus is infectious.

“The potential is tremendous. The land available is incomparable to what we have locally. Limassol and Paphos are growing fast, with lots of big projects.”

In fact, Cyprus is undergoing a boom in construction, with a 17 per cent increase in the number of building permits issued in the first 10 months of 2021 in comparison with the same period of 2020, according to the Statistical Service of Cyprus (CYSTAT)

Mr Mercieca mentions towers, golf course estates, and coastal resorts. “And ultimately, Cyprus is a really nice place. There’s an incredible variety of experiences on offer. You can go skiing in the morning and then head to the beach just an hour’s drive away.”

The firm is already looking at the next opportunities: “We are doing market studies in all of Southern Europe. We’re hungry, and we’re ready to grow.”
