QuickLets letting agency has announced, through its CEO and co-founder Steve Mercieca, that it is now expanding its operations to Cyprus.

The local agency took Malta by storm after its launch in 2013 and is now one of the largest on the island. It currently has a team of 258 letting specialists while its website claims to have over 15,000 property owners registered on the QuickLets system with 40,400 listed properties.

Responding to a request for comment by whoswho.mt, Mr Mercieca said that the plan to go international “has been a dream from day one”.

“We had a business plan for five years, we managed at six years – so better one year late than never!” he quipped.

On future plans to expand, Mr Mercieca said “this is the first of many, our vision is to go completely international. We plan to keep expanding, and, so far, so good.”

Mr Mercieca shares that currently there are two branches set up in Cyprus, with the subsidiary company having a director and a project manager who are running one branch each.

Mr Mercieca wrote on social media that “with the right systems in place, the right strategy and an awesome team beside you, success is more probable…” He also wrote that between the two Cyprus branches, the team has obtained 45 listings online, completed one viewing and have closed one rental agreement.

Asked about why Cyprus, Mr Mercieca remarked that it is very similar to Malta. “People here are very charming and open. It reminds me of home as its nice to walk about in the street as you start to notice familiar faces.

People in Cyprus “all speak English, which is a huge plus. Overall, the market is very similar”.

He added that the Cypriots also call themselves the gem of the Mediterranean and enjoy around 300 days of sunshine – so overall, its been a great fit.
