The Sunseeker Hotel in Buġibba, a family-run hospitality business operating for decades along Malta’s northern coast, is currently under a promise-of-sale agreement, its owner Neville Tonna confirmed to Whoswho.mt.

The confirmation follows public concern reported by a Times of Malta article into planning applications that could see a number of Richard England-designed buildings in the area demolished to make way for a 112-apartment residential development.

The application, by Trivium Properties, includes land that appears to comprise the Sunseeker Hotel site, according to planning control documents submitted to the Planning Authority.

When contacted by WhosWho.mt, Mr Tonna declined to confirm whether the Sunseeker building will be demolished, explaining that the outcome depends on the final terms of the ongoing promise-of-sale agreement.

Asked whether the Sunseeker brand or operations would be relocated, Mr Tonna gave no indication that a move was planned. His response appeared to suggest that, if the agreement proceeds, the hotel would close.

The Sunseeker is a three-star family-run business, offering a mix of serviced self-catering apartments and hotel rooms on short and long lets.
