The Office for Competition has given the go ahead for Francis Busuttil & Sons (Marketing) Ltd to acquire some brands and assets of Vivian Corporation Ltd.

In its decision, the Office for Competition found that the move fell within the terms of the Control of Concentrations Regulations.

The two companies, which are involved in the importation, wholesale and distribution of fast-moving consumer goods in Malta, had signed a Memorandum of Understanding through which Francis Busuttil & Sons proposed, among other things, to acquire some of Vivian Corporation’s brands, including all related importation, holding and distribution activities on the island.

According to the decision by the Office for Competition, the aggregate turnover of the undertakings in the past financial year exceeded €2.3 million.

The two companies had submitted a ‘notification of a concentration’ to the Director General at the Office for Competition in late July.
