Having been involved in several digital transformation projects for almost 20 years, Exigy has always had one distinct focus: to solve business challenges through technology.

Reflecting on this mission, Founding Partner and CEO Francois Grech affirms, “the team strongly feel that through technology, you have the power to change the fabric of how our society works, and that is why we relentlessly work towards this goal!”

Some of the company’s most exciting projects in that time have included using technology to protect digital identities in providing digital public services, as well as helping manage medical patients’ information. Through the years, the CEO notes, Exigy has evolved into offering a wider range of technologies to its customers, ensuring that it can deliver on digitally transforming the majority of the business processes within the organisation.

Looking back on the journey so far, Mr Grech explains that Exigy has evolved from a start-up formed at the end of 2002 to a company that is today 70+ strong, with resources across five countries.

“As with most companies, the initial years were the toughest,” he confides, “but with the unwavering support of my business partners, we found our main breakthrough in 2008 when we won several critical projects, which managed to fuel our growth to the next level.”

In 2015, the company ventured into international waters by establishing Exigy Italia, and things haven’t slowed down since then, the CEO smiles. “We proceeded with more international projects across different countries and expanded our team beyond our shores. Our teams are now based across five different countries with over 14 different nationalities, giving us a great mix of experts and viewpoints from many walks of life,” he says.

Today, with COVID-19 having profound effects on businesses across industries and forcing many to look into creative digital solutions to function remotely, the stage is well and truly set for Exigy’s experience and expertise.

“For quite a few years, local businesses saw technology as a cost rather than an investment,” Mr Grech highlights, noting that such companies did not consider the competitive advantage technology provided, as well as the massive potential for the growth of their business. “Most companies were comfortable with their ways of working and did not see the need to transform their operations and innovate,” he continues, yet due to COVID-19, things have quickly changed.

“The entrepreneurs that had invested in technology and improved their digital processes, both internally and within their customers, have managed to adapt quickly to the situation. This allowed them to dedicate more focus on fine-tuning their business model to the new reality. The ones that lagged on the investment are now in a hurry to introduce more digital processes quickly, especially those related to their customers,” the CEO explains.

And now, two years since the onset of COVID-19, he notes, “we can see many established businesses seriously looking to move toward digital transformation, with their senior management more committed than ever to transforming their business to become more resilient. I believe that technology is one of the pivotal enablers of these transformations.”

Listing some of the tangible ways Exigy can support businesses who have been pushed to speed up their digital innovation processes by the pandemic, Mr Grech draws from the team’s experience of working with a vast array of companies of different sizes.

“No matter what size, business leaders must understand that there is no quick fix to drive effective digital transformation within a business. Success is not only tied to technology but is also reliant on both processes and people in equal measure,” he states, affirming that Exigy’s focus is on technology that can address all core business processes; from sales and operations to customer service and finance: “we can help businesses journey through this transformation one step at a time.”

Given digital transformation’s ever-growing relevance amidst the current pandemic, the CEO maintains that the current challenges for a local business are various; from effectively reaching out to their customers and managing their supply chain to finding knowledgeable resources and operating the business. Having said that, he notes, “I strongly believe that local businesses have a golden opportunity to reinvigorate their operations through adequate transformation and then expand beyond the local market.

“While before, customers expected to be serviced by companies who are close by, we can now see customers being much more open to adopting products and services by remote companies. Even though some companies could perceive this as a threat, I see it as a great opportunity for local businesses to expand beyond our shores,” he continues.

“The entrepreneurs that had invested in technology and improved their digital processes, both internally and within their customers, have managed to a

As for Exigy itself, 2022 marks a special year for the company, as it celebrates 20 years of operations. Looking ahead, its CEO reveals, “our path moving forward is certainly one of growth. I am proud to say that Exigy has doubled its size in the last five years, and our vision is to achieve similar growth in the next five years as well.

“Our focus is to expand more internationally by achieving an even stronger presence all over Europe, particularly within the verticals that we operate. Demand for digital transformation is not just about being experienced locally. It is also about being visible in other European countries, and we feel we are well placed as a company to capitalise on this opportunity,” he adds.

And while Mr Grech considers the challenges to be numerous, from establishing oneself in a new market to finding the right resources to deliver the service, he is optimistic, affirming, “I have no doubts that we are up to the task, and with the support of my long-standing business partners and the rest of the team, we will surely succeed!”
