Restaurant Manager Anastasija Joseva on Tuesday highlighted how Fernandõ Gastrotheque's new Michelin star is representative of the “love and care” that the staff puts in every aspect of the restaurant.
This came after the Sliema bistro became the sixth restaurant in Malta and Gozo to be given the prestigious award last week, joining Under Grain (Valletta), ION – The Harbour (Valletta), Bahia (Balzan), Noni (Valletta) and De Mondion (Mdina). Since the Michelin guide first started including Malta in 2020, no restaurant has had the honour stripped away, despite annual updates.
“This is a tremendous accomplishment, and I could not be prouder of our team for their hard work and dedication that has led us to this incredible achievement,” Ms Joseva said.
She remarked that the award is a “true testament to the creativity, passion, and attention to detail” that Fernandõ Gastrotheque brings to “every single dish”, and serves as recognition of the “time and effort” that its staff has invested in sourcing its ingredients and perfecting its culinary techniques.
“But more than that, it is a recognition of the love and care that we put into every aspect of our restaurant, from the warm welcome that we give to each and every guest, to the thoughtful and personalised service that we offer, to the ambiance that we create in our dining room,” she added.
“This Michelin star is not just an accolade to hang on our wall, it is a validation of our philosophy and a celebration of our team’s passion and talent,” she continued. It acts as an affirmation that what the staff is doing is “truly special and unique”, and that their “dedication to excellence has paid off in the most meaningful way possible”.
Ms Joseva proceeded to thank each member of the restaurant’s team for their “hard work, creativity, and commitment to excellence”. She also expressed gratitude to its customers, who inspire the staff to “do better and to push the boundaries of what is possible in the world of culinary arts”.
“We could not have achieved this Michelin star without your support, and we promise to continue to push ourselves to new heights and to provide an unforgettable dining experience for each and every one of you,” she said, before wishing for “many more Michelin stars in the future”.
Located right in the heart of Sliema, Fernandõ Gastrotheque was established with the aim to bring a “new meaning to the restaurant scene in Malta”. The restaurant also features a wine cellar where guests can enjoy over 600 wines from all over the world.
