Stargate Studios Malta has been nominated for a BAFTA Television Award in the Special, Visual & Graphic Effects category for its contribution to an episode of Black Mirror.

The nomination is for USS Callister: Into Infinity, part of the latest season of the dystopian anthology series created by Charlie Brooker. The episode combines retro-inspired space visuals with advanced digital effects, with significant input from Stargate’s Malta-based team.

In a statement, the studio said it was “extremely proud” of its team and highlighted its collaboration with members of the Black Mirror creative team, including James MacLachlan and Josie Henwood. It also thanked Netflix for its continued trust in the studio’s work.

The recognition follows an Emmy nomination received by Stargate Studios Malta in September of last year for the same episode.

Stargate Studios Malta provides a range of post-production services, including visual effects, audio post-production, digital scanning, and immersive technologies. Its portfolio includes both local and international productions such as Luzzu, Death and Other Details, The Madame Blanc Mysteries, and Testament: The Story of Moses.
