Matthew Xerri on Monday announced that he has been named Partner at Malta-based legal firm Ganado Advocates.
He forms part of its shipping and aviation team, with a particular focus on ship and aviation finance, such as the implementation of alternative financing methods. He is also tasked with regularly assisting financial institutions and leading banks in the perfection of security over yachts, commercial vessels, and aircraft. Additionally, he, together with the litigation team, provides guidance on enforcement issues, including the arrest and re-possession of aircraft and vehicles, among other responsibilities.
He first joined Ganado Advocates as Advocate in 2011, and was then promoted to Associate and Senior Associate in 2014 and 2018, respectively. Dr Xerri held the latter position until his most recent appointment.
He was awarded the Legal Media Group’s Rising Stars award in 2020 and 2021, an achievement that aims to recognise those with a demonstrated track record in notable transactions and considered to be future leaders in their field.
Dr Xerri holds a Doctor of Laws and a Bachelor of Laws from University of Malta, along with a Master of Laws in Maritime Law from the International Maritime Law Institute, as well as a Diploma in Taxation from Malta Institute of Taxation. He is a Member at the Chamber of Advocates, Malta Maritime Law Association, Malta Institute of Taxation, and has been admitted to the Maltese Bar.
With roots in the early 20th century, Ganado Advocates has since become one of Malta’s “foremost law practices”, growing and adapting itself to meet the changing needs of international business and the legal community. It seeks to provide legal advisory services across a wide spectrum of international commercial and corporate activities.
