Christian Farrugia, a Bachelor of Science student from the University of Malta (UoM), has landed a sought after position as an Associated Data Analyst at Tesla.

He announced the impressive achievement on social media, saying he was “ecstatic” to be joining the firm.

Mr Farrugia is studying a B.Sc in Mathematics and Statistics and Operations Research at UoM, and has previously furthered his studies via a year abroad at the University of Warwick.

In his time as a student, he has worked in a number of junior roles, including Genting Casinos UK as Data Analyst intern, Junior BI Developer at Eunoia, and Junior Data Analyst at Hero Gaming.

More recently, he occupied a prestigious four-month Business Analyst internship at ecommerce giant Amazon.

These roles appear to have prepared him for a position at Tesla, which is famously tough in its hiring policy. Late last year, the company’s controversial CEO Elon Musk joked that should pre-eminent electrical engineer Nikola Tesla apply for a job, he might not even get an interview.

He added that the company screens candidates for “evidence of exceptional ability,” that make the reader say “wow” when they read them.

Tesla has a number of offices across the world. In Europe, it has facilities in Germany and the Netherlands.
