Speaking on the latest edition of Betsson Group’s bi-weekly panel show, Andrew Valenzia, Commercial Director at Betsson subsidiary Zecure, identified the driving of a great culture at the company as a key goal for the next year.
“I’d like to make Zecure a great place to work”, he said.
Mr Valenzia commented that it “already is” a great place, but that challenges relating to the pandemic and the migration of the company has disrupted things.
Reflecting on his role at Zecure, he shared his pleasure at leading “a team of very energetic, hungry people, to find new revenue and optimise existing markets that we operate in”.
It’s a broad role, he said, which currently involves the prospective revamping of one of the company’s main brands, though details on which remained scant.
Looking back on his career, he recounted how he came back to Malta after studying in the UK, where he was signed as a striker at a local football club, despite his desire to find a job.
While his playing career was far from successful – “I didn’t score any goals” – he was lucky to find “a really good company”, where he stayed for an extended period, before joining the “centre of excellence, so-to-speak, which is Betsson”.
“My task was to run the emerging markets”, he explains. “I joined with a great group of people and inherited and wonderful team of people. “We went into markets like Canada, and I assisted in our quest for Kenya”, he says.
