G3 Group, the company behind the Pergola and Solana hotels in Mellieħa, among other outlets and businesses, has announced the passing of Joseph Grima, one of its early founders and brother to current Group Chairman John Grima.

“Joe leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy that will always remain part of our group’s story,” wrote G3 Group in an online tribute.

“His joyful character, warmth and dedication touched many people throughout the years and earned him the respect and affection of all those who had the privilege of knowing him.”

Beginning in the early 1980s, the Grima family has invested heavily in its hometown of Mellieħa. Starting with the Pergola Hotel & Spa, it eventually developed the Solana Hotel & Spa before further expanding its interests into the food and beverage, entertainment and property development sectors.

It now also operates DOMS Boutique Living and the Square Gastro Bar in Mellieħa’s main square, together with Palm Beach in Armier and a hotel in St Julian’s.

While thanking customers for their understanding, Square Gastro Bar said it will be closed tomorrow Wednesday 23rd September between 2pm and 5pm.
