For Brian Zarb, Managing Director of Conferans Solutions Ltd, the opportunity was clear: businesses did not necessarily need more technology - they needed meeting rooms that were easier to understand, easier to buy and easier to use.
Conferans is the only business in Malta focused exclusively on meeting-room technology.
Rather than offering video conferencing and audio visual equipment as one part of a wider IT portfolio, its entire focus is on designing, equipping and supporting professional meeting spaces.
“The technology is already there,” Mr Zarb says. “The real challenge is choosing what actually fits the room and making sure people can use it without unnecessary complexity.”
That thinking led to what Conferans calls a room-first approach. Room size, seating, existing equipment, how people connect and platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Meet are considered before equipment is recommended.
Businesses can also start independently through Conferans’ Meeting Room Size Guide, a complimentary online tool that uses a short series of questions to identify suitable meeting-room options without requiring an initial sales conversation.

At the centre of the proposition are four principles: reliability and ease of use, quality, affordability and local support.
“A meeting room should just work,” Mr Zarb says. “People should be able to walk in, connect and start their meeting without needing to understand what is happening behind the technology.”
That means favouring plug-and-play connections where practical, reducing unnecessary software and driver dependencies, and creating a familiar experience from one room to the next.
An important part of this strategy is Conferans’ distribution partnership with WeDoInnov, including exclusive rights in Malta and Gozo.
Founded in Shenzhen in 2013, WeDoInnov develops video conferencing and audio visual equipment including AI video bars, PTZ cameras, conference cameras, microphones and wireless collaboration technology.
“We looked at a number of manufacturers,” Mr Zarb explains. “What mattered was not only price. We wanted dependable technology, strong manufacturing capability and a partner we could work with directly.”
That direct relationship also supports another part of the Conferans model: affordability.
By reducing unnecessary distribution layers, the company aims to provide professional meeting-room technology at practical price points, with equipment pricing visible online before a customer enters a sales conversation.
“We want customers to understand what they are buying and what it is likely to cost,” Mr Zarb says. “Professional equipment should not automatically mean unnecessary complexity or an excessive investment.”
Quality remains equally important. Conferans looks beyond individual specifications to camera performance, audio clarity, connectivity, build quality and how the different components work together as a complete room experience.
And when assistance is needed, the support remains local.
Conferans provides a Malta-based point of contact from initial room selection and design through to equipment supply, installation, handover and ongoing support.
Ultimately, Mr Zarb says the objective is not to make businesses think more about meeting-room technology, but less.
“Our job is to understand the room, recommend what fits and make the technology straightforward for the people who actually have to use it.”
