As Malta International Airport welcomed its record 10 millionth passenger of the year, MIA CEO Alan Borg reflected on how the airport has evolved since he began working there 17 years ago.
"2025 was our best year on many fronts, and reaching ten million passengers is a defining milestone for Malta International Airport,” Mr Borg told WhosWho.mt.
“When I joined in 2007, we served just under three million passengers, making yesterday's achievement a moment of immense pride.”
“Above all, this achievement belongs to our teams and stakeholders, whose ambition, resilience, and long-term vision make successes like this possible.”
Mr Borg said that this latest milestone reinforces MIA’s commitment to its ambitious investment programme and to maintaining the highest standards of service excellence, ensuring the best possible experience for its guests.
“We will also continue to work closely with our stakeholders, including the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism and the Malta Tourism Authority, building on the strong partnerships that underpin our ongoing efforts to enhance Malta’s connectivity and year-round tourism,” he said.
The 10 millionth passenger of the year arrived at MIA yesterday on a KM Malta flight from Zurich. A full breakdown of passenger data is set to be released next month but 2025 is certain to be a record year for passenger movement, breaking the previous 2024 record of 8.96 million passengers.
