More than a year after the collapse of Tania Flats at St Julian’s, the owners of the flats have not been given the report about the conclusions of this investigation.

Back in June of this year – exactly a year after the collapse various media reports confirmed that the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) has finished the report but has not given it to the relevant parties.

In the latest financial statements of Santumas Shareholdings, which owns two flats in the building, the company explained that it is still waiting on the official reports and conclusions from the relevant authorities.

Speaking to WhosWho.mt the company said that it has repeatedly followed up with the BCA regarding its investigation into the collapse of Tania Flats, including requests for a formal copy of the authority’s report.

According to the company, it has maintained contact with the BCA over recent months, initially offering its cooperation while the investigation was ongoing and subsequently seeking access to the final report. The company said it understands that the report has been finalised but remains subject to the authority’s internal review.

It added that it has not been informed of the reason for the delay or given an indication of when the report is expected to be released to the parties involved.

The company also said that, like members of the general public, its understanding of the status of the investigation and the conclusions reached in the report has been based on reports published in the media in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, judicial proceedings are currently underway before the court in connection with claims relating to the collapse. The proceedings were initiated by third parties, and Santumas said it has recently been called into the case.

The company said it will, in due course, consider taking separate legal action where it believes this to be appropriate with the aim of protecting the interests of the company.

The company insisted that it will await the publication of the BCA report and the outcome of the ongoing judicial process before making any further substantive comment on the circumstances surrounding the collapse.
