Emmanuel Mallia has been appointed Malta’s new Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, following his tenure as Malta’s Ambassador to Spain, a position he held for around two years.
The President of Malta Myriam Spiteri Debono congratulated him on this new diplomatic mission entrusted to him and wished him every success in his work in the best interests of Malta. She also presented him with the Letters of Credence.
Dr Mallia also served as Malta’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom for around three years and is a criminal lawyer by profession.
Emmanuel Mallia also served as Home Affairs Minister in Labour’s first Cabinet since returning to Government in 2013. However, he was dismissed after a year in the wake of a shooting incident involving his driver.
He returned to Cabinet in 2016 as Competitiveness Minister, a position he maintained until the 2017 general election.
