Holy Wines literally started out of nowhere. Although its founder, Adrian, had long been into wine, the venture was never in the pipeline. He had never thought of having a business in such a saturated market and in a time when wine consumption globally is decreasing. Obsession, however, can lead to some crazy things, with Holy Wines starting out as a labour of love.

What started as a crazy idea became a highly fulfilling experience, as Adrian only chose to import the wines that he loves, and that were not available in Malta before Holy Wines was established.

Founded in 2019, Holy Wines is now already a leader in wines which are off the beaten path, wines that, in the industry, are sometimes referred to as niche. Wines that usually come from cooler climates or high altitudes if in warmer ones. Wines that offer elegance over power or high alcohol. Wines coming from small family-run wineries that are produced in very small numbers, and also some big names in the current super premium and natural wine scenes.

On top of this over 65% of Holy Wines imports already carry organic certification.

Although it is a very competitive market, Holy Wines manages to stand out from the competition, especially when today’s more modern approach to drinking wine is focused on less quantity and more quality, with lighter and more elegant wines slowly leading the way over the full bodied wines with high alcohol made for Robert Parker’s palate back in the 1990s.

Being very focused on the selected 18 brands currently in its portfolio, Holy Wines is in a position to offer a personal service to all its customers. In a world when everything is more digitalised and people are communicating less with each other, this comes as a breath of fresh air and the consumer is loving it.
