AgriBank PLC is a regulated credit institution operating in Malta, while its main business to date is the provision of finance to land-owning farmers in the UK to fund the purchase of agricultural machinery, equipment, buildings, land and financing on farm energy (OFE) projects.

Typical products are structured as financial leases, hire purchase agreements and secured loans. As from the last quarter of 2017, the bank started offering a range of banking services to corporate clients, mainly companies registered in Malta.

The unprecedented expansion in the Maltese economy has not been matched by the provision of corporate banking locally.

AgriBank makes use of state-of-the-art banking and information systems and shall offer current accounts to corporates - including gaming companies licensed and regulated in Malta - and process their payments efficiently.

The Board of Directors consists of seasoned bankers – including Frank Sekula, who is the sole shareholder of the bank – lawyers, and accountants, and is profoundly focused on the bank’s corporate governance.

Simultaneously, the bank puts significant effort into risk management and compliance duties. The Bank’s Chairman is former EU Commissioner Dr Joe Borg while its CEO is Mr Roderick Psaila, who has been in banking for 27 years.

Going forward, AgriBank’s strategy is to maintain a sustainable agricultural loan book, while steadily diversifying into corporate banking in Malta and exploring other banking opportunities.
