The anticipated French patisserie Ladurée has opened its doors at The Point Shopping Mall, Sliema, on Wednesday.

The brand was confirmed to be opening in Malta in January, with sighting and posts on social media showing that it would be replacing French Affair – The Café, on the external part of the mall.

The opening comes after months of anticipation, fueled by teasers by the management. Just last August, management published a staff recruitment notice, but withheld details regarding the official launch date.

In 2022, WhosWho.mt reported that the French brand would be setting up shop in Malta. This had followed earlier reports that it was coming to Malta in 2019, when Testa Catering Concepts had signed a 10-year franchise agreement.

The company is no longer behind the agreement.

Ladurée was established in 1862 and is a French manufacturer and retailer of confectioneries. In particular, it is known for its double-decker macaron.

Apart from its outlets in Paris, France, the brand can be found in different European countries, North and Central America, Asia, and Africa.
