Bernadette Stivala has been named as the new Head of School at San Anton School, having also served as acting Head of School since October.

The announcement was made by San Anton School through their social media, saying: “Bernadette Stivala has been announced as San Anton’s School’s next Head of School,” adding that she is succeeding the late Dr Spiteri.

The post added that she is “well known in the school’s community as she was Head of Early Years at San Anton School since September 2013 and acting Head of School since October 2021.”

Ms Stivala was also part of the school’s board between 2012 and 2013, as well as a founding member of the Independent Schools Association.

During her time as Head of Early Years, she “pioneered the emergent curriculum and the Reggio approach as well as introduced outdoor education”, now being key parts of the San Anton School Early Years experience.

Commenting on the new role, Ms Stivala said: “I am honoured to take on this role and excited to be leading such a dynamic team.”

“I look forward to providing our students with exciting, creative and meaningful learning experiences which will build their enthusiasm for learning and help them to develop into mature, responsible and caring adults,” Ms Stivala added.

Ms Stivala is a qualified English Language and Literature teacher with a Bachlor of Arts (Honours) degree from the University of Malta as well as a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of Leicester.

San Anton School is an “independent, co-education, mixed-ability school” that was opened in 1988, and now educates students from the pre-Kindergarten years all the way to Secondary level.
