A group of employees from Bank of Valletta recently spent a day volunteering at Dar tal-Providenza in Siġġiewi, supporting the organisation through a range of practical tasks.

The volunteers assisted with cleaning, kitchen duties, washing the home’s vehicles, and carrying out general maintenance work.

According to the bank, around 100 employees from various departments took part in volunteering activities between February and April 2026.

During that period, employees supported nine NGOs operating in the social and environmental sectors, including Embrace, Inspire, Voice of Inclusion Gozo, Dar Papa Franġisku, Caritas Malta, Conservatorio Vincenzo Bugeja, MSPCA, Din l-Art Ħelwa and Grow 10 Trees.

Bank employees are entitled to one day of volunteering leave in addition to their annual leave entitlement. The scheme was introduced in 2024 as part of the Bank’s corporate social responsibility programme.

Commenting on the initiative, BOV Chief Operations Officer Ernest Agius said volunteering activities remain an important aspect of the Bank’s engagement with the community and noted the strong participation shown by employees since the programme was launched.

BOV Chief People & Culture Officer Ray Debattista highlighted the role such initiatives play in bringing employees together outside the workplace, while also contributing to staff well-being and personal development.

The NGOs involved welcomed the employees’ support and thanked them for the time and effort dedicated to their respective causes.
