Staybridge Suites, an upscale residential-style hotel brand by IHG Hotels & Resorts, is set to open in Malta by the end of the year.

The brand is being brought to Malta by the Eden Leisure Group and will be based in St Julian’s, adjacent to InterContinental Malta, which is also owned by Eden.

In a recent financial analysis summary, Eden said that Staybridge Suites Malta will have 49 units of self-catering apartments and will target both short and longer-stay guests, as well as families.

It effectively replaces the operations of the former Diamond Suites aparthotel, which closed down at the end of 2024, citing a decline in bookings alongside rising costs.

This means that Malta will become the 13th country with a Staybridge Suites hotel, with the brand already having a presence in the US, Canada, Egypt, Thailand, the UK, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Lebanon, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil.

It also plans to expand to Hungary and Belgium in the near future.

Staybridge Suites is designed to bridge the gap between traditional hotels and serviced apartments. Its suites include fully-equipped kitchens, living and dining areas and workspaces, while guests can also enjoy hotel-style services such as a fitness room, housekeeping, storage lockers, and breakfast buffets.

It will become the latest addition to Eden Leisure Group’s portfolio, following the opening of the nearby Coco Malta hotel and its signature restaurant Lumi last year.
