A Maltese version of global reality TV phenomenon The Traitors is heading to local TV in the near future, WhosWho.mt can reveal.
The Traitors will be produced by greatt, which is behind several Maltese TV shows such as Big Brother, MasterChef, X Factor Malta, Malta’s Got Talent, The Voice Kids, Shark Tank, Tipping Point, and The Masked Singer.
Speaking on the WhosWho podcast, greatt Co-Founder Mark Grech confirmed that the first season of The Traitors Malta has already been filmed, with an official campaign set to launch towards the end of the year.
More details, including the host, competitors, location, the date of the first episode, and whether it will be a regular or celebrity edition are set to be revealed in due course.
The psychological reality competition revolves around a group of ‘Faithful’ contestants trying to identify and banish the secret traitors from within their midst.
They must work together on challenges to build up a prize pot, but each night the Traitors secretly choose a Faithful to ‘murder’, eliminating them from the game.
The remaining contestants must then figure out who the Traitors are and gather at the Round Table to vote a player out of the game.
If the Faithful successfully eliminate all the Traitors, the remaining players get to share the final prize.
However, if one or more Traitors manage to survive until the end, they get to take the money themselves.
