Ann Fenech, Head of the Marine Litigation Department at Fenech & Fenech Advocates, has presided over her first General Assembly of the Comité Maritime International as President of the reputable organisation.
She was elected to the post in October 2022, after occupying the position of Vice President for two consecutive terms. She is the first female to have the top job at the organisation in its 125-year history.
During the event, held in Montreal earlier in June, the organisation discussed several timely issues, including unmanned ships, judicial sales of ships, collisions, polar shipping, climate change, ethics and diversity, mobile offshore renewable units, and cyber threats, among others.
Dr Fenech is a former Managing Partner at Fenech & Fenech Advocates, and also serves on the board of the Malta Maritime Forum and is one of its founders.

CMI is a non-governmental, not-for-profit international organisation. It was established in Antwerp in 1897, with the objective to contribute by all appropriate means and activities to the unification of maritime law in all its aspects. To this end, it promotes the establishment of national associations of maritime law and co-operates with other international organisations.
