The iconic Balluta seafront corner property housing the popular Barracuda and Piccolo Padre restaurants is officially changing hands, as confirmed by WGC Group, former owners and operators of both restaurants.
“After 43 brilliant, colourful years, the time has come to say ‘goodbye’ and move on to another chapter of our lives. Both the Barracuda and Piccolo Padre are now in new hands.”
The building housing the establishments is being purchased by local developer Carlo Stivala, who previously confirmed to WhosWho.mt that he is planning to convert the first floor, which currently houses offices, into more restaurant space, while the lower floors currently occupied by the Barracuda and Piccolo Padre will continue to be used in the same way.
He also confirmed that while the deal will see him taking over ownership of the building, he will not be taking over operations of the establishments.
Taking to social media, WGC Group, which had operated Barracuda and Piccolo Padre for 43 years wrote:
“We would like to thank our staff – past and present – for being such an integral part of our business, and for helping us to provide so many wonderful experiences to our countless guests over the years.
“We would also like to say a big thank you to everyone who has dined with us in that time. We are grateful for your support and loyalty. You are the direct reason for our success, and we are truly humbled and honoured to have served you. We have been a part of your most treasured moments and celebrations, and we hope they have given you happy memories that will last a lifetime.
“Thank you once again from all our family.”
