Accelleron, a global leader in turbocharging, fuel injection, and digital technologies for marine and energy industries, signed two strategic partnerships in 2024 with Somas Instrument AB and Geislinger GmbH.
These collaborations further reinforce Accelleron’s commitment to supporting the maritime industry's green transition. Both partnerships broaden the range of services offered and enhance the company’s ability to support customers in achieving greater operational efficiency and environmental compliance.
A synergy with Somas to drive decarbonisation in the marine sector
A key pillar of Accelleron’s strategy is the development of strategic partnerships to expand its portfolio of solutions. Among these, the agreement with Somas stands out. Somas is a Swedish company renowned for its expertise in manufacturing control and on/off valves, with a strong reputation in the marine industry.
In September 2024, Somas appointed Accelleron as its authorised global service provider for marine customers. This designation also includes specialised training for Accelleron’s technicians to service Somas valves installed in exhaust gas aftertreatment systems, specifically.
Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) systems
These technologies are crucial for reducing air pollutants and ensuring compliance with increasingly stringent regulations on energy efficiency and emissions. The integration of Accelleron’s advanced turbocharging technologies with Somas’ emissions control expertise enables the delivery of comprehensive solutions that improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and accelerate the shift toward sustainable shipping offering 24/7 support through its global service network.
“Our agreement with Accelleron will ensure our marine industrial customers receive high-quality aftermarket service that supports the long-term performance of Somas valves,” said Peter Hägg, CEO of Somas.
Geislinger and Accelleron: enhanced capabilities in damper maintenance
In parallel, Accelleron has launched a partnership with Geislinger GmbH, an Austrian company widely recognised for its couplings and dampers for marine engines. This collaboration allows Accelleron to expand its technical expertise to include specialised maintenance of dampers, components essential for the safe and efficient operation of marine engines.
Accelleron’s Italian Service Stations played a central role in this project, successfully completing a joint training programme with Geislinger. The programme enabled technicians to independently perform maintenance on Geislinger couplings and dampers. Today, Accelleron can provide timely, qualified, and consistent support, further enhancing the responsiveness and efficiency of its service offering. This partnership also strengthens Accelleron’s local presence and consolidates its ability to proactively support mission-critical engine components, essential to performance and safety.
An integrated vision for the future of marine propulsion
Both collaborations provide customers with a full suite of expertise and technology to maximise operational uptime while contributing to the decarbonisation of the maritime sector.
Paolo Musso, Managing Director of Accelleron Italy, commented: “These partnerships strengthen our ability to support customers in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean area with integrated, expert, and sustainability-focused services. We are proud of the work carried out by our technical teams and of the trust placed in Accelleron by partners such as Geislinger and Somas.”
Through these partnerships, Accelleron reaffirms its commitment to sustainable innovation and strengthens its position as a strategic partner to the global maritime industry on its path toward a more efficient, low-emission future.
