Wolt is increasingly becoming a platform for more than food deliveries in Malta, as customers turn to the platform for groceries, electronics, pet supplies and other everyday purchases.

This shift forms part of a wider European trend identified in Wolt’s latest retail report, which found that non-food retail's share of sales on the platform more than tripled between 2022 and 2025. Retail now accounts for over a quarter of sales through the platform globally.

Electronics, pet supplies, and health and beauty are among the app’s fastest-growing categories.

“We see this in Malta too. People open Wolt for dinner, but also for groceries and other things they need during the day,” Wolt Malta Country Representative Chris Tanti said.

“For local businesses, that creates another way to be discovered and to serve customers beyond the shop.”

“Malta has a strong community of local businesses. We want to help bring more of what they offer into people’s everyday lives, whether someone is planning their grocery shop, picking up a few essentials or looking for a gift.”

Wolt said that non-grocery retail orders tend to spike significantly during busy shopping seasons across Europe.

For example, florist sales rose 32-fold on Valentine’s Day, electronics sales increased 440 per cent around Black Friday, and toys and games sales grew 133 per cent during the holiday season.
