Family businesses are the backbone of Malta's economy, yet many are so absorbed in day-to-day operations that keeping up with legal and regulatory change slips down the list. On 23rd October, the Family Business Office (FBO) and the Malta Business Registry (MBR) are offering a practical way to fix that, for free.

As part of its educational training programme, the FBO is teaming up with the Malta Business Registry for a session on the different business structures available in Malta and the obligations that come with each. Whatever legal form a business takes, the rules around it are never static. Requirements evolve, and staying on top of them is essential for every business, particularly for family enterprises, where ownership, management and succession are closely intertwined.

The session will also include a live walkthrough of BaROS, the MBR's online system, and the Malta Business Wallet. This new feature is designed to cut bureaucracy and make dealing with the different authorities in Malta faster and more efficient.

The session follows the success of this week's event with MDIA on cybersecurity and AI, which showed how much appetite there is among family businesses for practical, expert-led guidance. The programme continues in November with an Export Readiness session in collaboration with Trade Malta.

Business owners, managers and next-generation family members are all encouraged to attend. Knowing your obligations is not optional, and this is the session to help you do it.
