Malta’s leading and largest online business portals – WhosWho.mt, MaltaCEOs.mt, BusinessNow.mt and iGamingCapital.mt, have continued to gain traction as they registered significant gains on the local market with the portals’ audience and social media reach now exceeding 1.5 million over the past three months. Throughout 2023, to date, the reach on LinkedIn of the four portals has increased by over 40 per cent as Content House has seen its market share in the local business-to-business consolidate even further.
Over the past 19 years, Content House has built a strong reputation as the local market leader in the business-to-business media market segment, first through an impressive portfolio of prestigious publications and magazines, and now also through four business portals that have developed a distinctive personality. Each portal plays a strategic sniper role in reaching key audiences, both directly through the platforms, but also reaching significant audiences on social media, particularly on LinkedIn.
WhosWho.mt has become a household name in business, corporate and professional circles, with thousands of individuals and companies opting to secure premium profiles; both WhosWho.mt individual profiles and company profiles. The WhosWho.mt portal has also gained a strong reputation as a leading business networking platform, providing daily business reports, stories and updates on companies, people in business, management, and c-level positions.
The second flagship business portal – MaltaCEOs.mt, is Malta’s premium brand in the B2B segment. Both the MaltaCEOs.mt portal as well as its sister print brand – the prestigious annual publication featuring 50 leading, locally based CEOs – have continued to grow in popularity among businesspeople who matter in Malta. MaltaCEOs.mt provides a wealth of daily reports, interviews, insights, and stories on issues that are relevant to CEOs, business leaders and c-level executives. Over 20 contributors provide insightful, regular articles and contributions on issues ranging from leadership to growth, strategy, people management and sustainability.
BusinessNow.mt is the online business news portal that has gained a reputation for its ability to cover business stories relevant to local business, approaching business stories from the business perspective, and providing daily business and commercial news stories, interviews, and stock market analyses. The portal – which has a leading annual business publication as a sister brand – has continued to grow and evolve over the past 12 months.
The fourth flagship business portal – iGamingCapital.mt is the only locally based portal that focuses exclusively on the Malta-based iGaming industry and has proved to be highly relevant to the growing population of professionals that work in the iGaming industry in Malta. The niche online iGaming portal has a sister brand – the annual iGaming Capital magazine – that is distributed to all iGaming companies operating in Malta.
Jesmond Bonello, Managing Director of Content House, said the renewed success in the online business media segment boils down to the hard work and dedication of various teams within the company: “Over the past years we have invested heavily in specialised product and brand development in the online media industry and we’re now reaping the fruit, but ultimately the success is down to our special team and our strong set-up across the board – we now employ the largest business editorial team in Malta, we also have the largest team in the corporate sales and business development segment, and we continue to invest in our teams that focus on digital and social media strategy as well as on client relationship management. These teams have together managed to create the right symphony – it’s not one instrument, but an orchestra, each department complementing the other, to create a strong product, with a strong audience, and a strong client base.”
Jesmond also highlighted that the numbers being achieved in the online B2B portfolio of the company are significant considering that business portals operate in niche markets: “We’re not talking about mainstream audiences here. These are specialised business portals reaching businesspeople, managers, professionals, c-level executives, business leaders and CEOs. Our weapon in this market segment is a sniper, and not a shotgun, and hence why our results are fantastic. Clients who are after reaching a strictly locally based B2B audience are very aware that locally, it is not easy to successfully reach out to this segment, but through our business portals, our clients are getting what they really need, effectively.”
Raisa Mazzola, Head of Digital and Media, said it was evident to everyone that these four portals have continued to gain significant reach and traction on social media: “LinkedIn is a case in point. We’ve been doing very well on LinkedIn for several years, but in 2023 our portals have registered significant results. The feedback we’ve been getting is incredible, and as Jesmond said, we will continue to invest in our brands, team and efforts, to continue reaching more and more people.”
Marie Claire Camilleri – who heads a strong, large team of corporate sales and business development managers and executives as Head of Sales and Business Development, said the demand for Content House’s brands has seen an exponential rise in 2023: “Of course this article is focusing on the outstanding results of WhosWho, MaltaCEOs, BusinessNow and iGamingCapital, but it’s worth noting that we have an extensive portfolio of brands that caters for other markets too, in both the online media segment and in the print segment. For instance, in the mainstream and public media segment, Gwida.mt and its video podcast Kellymni have also exploded in popularity this year – the numbers there are truly impressive. GuideMeMalta.com – and its sister brand publication Guide Me Visitors Guide – targeting visitors, expats and locals, and focusing on what’s on and trending in Malta – have also witnessed incredible growth.
Malta Invest, the global annual publication distributed in strategic business markets in London, Dubai, Geneva, Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt, and Zurich – is also an exciting brand that registered a significant growth in client base this year. This is just to mention a few examples of other impressive results we’ve been achieving in other areas of our portfolio.
“When it comes to our online business flagship brands – WhosWho, MaltaCEOs, BusinessNow and iGamingCapital – the interest from clients has increased exponentially. The recovery in business post-COVID has been impressive, as can be seen by the remarkable online campaigns our clients are running on our portals. We have also seen significant growth in the online sponsored segment – across the board. And most importantly, our client retention in the online business-to-business segment has reached new records, as we’re managing to deliver what we promise, and beyond!”
Helena Grech, the Online Business Editor who heads the business editorial set-up for the four portals said substantial investment in building a strong business editorial set-up has enabled the company to significantly increase its presence, social media reach and audience: “We’re constantly looking for specialised editorial resources in business, be it mainstream journalists who want to specialise in business journalism, economists with a flair for writing, and content writers and editors who are familiar with the world of business – our growing business editorial team has made a big difference, and hand-in-hand with other departments, we keep making inroads.”
