As member of the Board of Directors, Sebastian Debono is responsible for marketing and also for the retail arms of the Maypole Group.

“I am a baker by profession, having been introduced to the family business at a very young age,” Mr Debono, who hails from Qormi proudly says. Qormi is, of course, well known in Malta for its bakeries and, especially, the Maltese loaf. Under the Knights of St John, Qormi was, in fact, known as Casal Fornaio, the village of bakeries, a tradition that remain till this very day.

The family-run business Mr Debono works for also has a tradition of bread making and Maltese baked products that spans over four decades. The Group has its own production facility and operates more than 20 retail outlets, spread throughout the island, based on a convenience store concept.
