Nikita Zammit Alamango considers herself lucky because her role as Chief Operations Officer of Arms Ltd - Malta's state utility company - gives her the opportunity to interact with internal and external customers of the company.

Externally, she deals with customer care issues and is also responsible for the company’s marketing and communication.

“Being a one-stop-shop for all utility services in Malta is not an easy feat. Nearly everyone on the island is our customer and we strive daily to improve our facilities, provide an excellent service and get our message and information across to as many people as possible,” she explains.

Internally, she heads the HR Department and the company’s premises. “I believe that employees are part of the company’s assets. You have to treat them like your best customers and, in turn, they will treat your customers right,” Ms Zammit Alamango says.

She points out that HR is very complex. From payroll and recruitment to training, her team goes over and above administrative work to do its best at understanding each and every employee and their situation.

A former Board Member of the Water Services Corporation and the BioEthics Committee, Ms Zammit Alamango has a BSc degree in Political Science from the London School of Economics and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Open University.
