Elio Desira started his career in the yachting industry in 1982, then moved on to the merchant navy in 1988 where he worked as an engineer before taking the role of Chief Engineer on various types of vessels in 1992. In the following year, he became Fleet Superintendent for a fleet of six oil and chemical tankers.

Throughout his career, Mr Desira  was involved in a vast amount of dry-dockings and major conversions from single to double hull tankers and other projects including design.

"After over 12 years of sea time, I then made a step up in the maritime industry, founding Oceanus Marine Ltd - Marine Surveyors & Consultants.
