The Waterfront Hotel CEO Maria Micallef, together with Managing Director Brian Mizzi and General Manager Charmaine Camilleri, welcomed Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo and Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) CEO Johann Buttigieg on a visit last week.

Ms Micallef shared that the hotel’s management and the tourism authorities discussed the various measures and initiatives undertaken by The Waterfront Hotel team to strengthen its business during the pandemic and in preparation for the reopening of tourism this season.

The CEO stressed the importance of various Government initiatives “which significantly helped the HoReCa sector during the pandemic”.

The Government had announced a sweeping €20 million aid package targeting Malta’s tourism sector, which includes a number of initiatives aimed at different economic niches. One such initiative is a contribution being made to tourists who book with pre-specified hotels, directly through the hotel, in an effort to attract activity.

In 2019, The Waterfront Hotel had carried out a €9 million investment project which saw a full refurbishment of the premises, and an additional 49 rooms and 11 suites added.

“This investment reflects the company’s vision to elevate the tourist experience by creating a modern and comfortable space for accommodation and leisure.”

The four-star Sliema hotel caters for a total of 165 rooms and has been in operation since the year 2000.
