Malta Freeport Terminals on Monday moved one of its Liebherr megamax quayside cranes to its final position on Terminal One “in an intricate operation carefully planned by Libherr and our skilled personnel”.
Earlier this year, Malta Freeport Terminals purchased two megamax quayside cranes with the capability of operating 23,000 TEU vessels from world-leading manufacturer Libherr Container Cranes.
The cranes are touted for having outstanding specifications, including an outreach of 72 metres, an air draft of 54 metres and twin-lift spreader capability. They are also part of investment plans amounting to €37 million, €20 million of which were invested into the two modern cargo cranes.
“With the second crane also due to be moved this week, these are exciting times at the Freeport as we look forward to offering clients the vest best service through our latest investment,” the company said on LinkedIn.
