Having received thousands of submissions from around the world, the Malta International Photo Awards have announced their winners for 2019/20.
Falling under six categories of Abstract, Cities, Everything Malta, Nature, People and Storytelling, each award featured a winner and a top 10, with a handful of familiar local photographers rubbing shoulders with international names.
Among the local photographers mentioned was Sean Mallia, who came in at fourth place in the Abstract category. In a post to his facebook page, Sean wrote “very pleased to see my one submission placing 4th in the ABSTRACT category, out of thousands of submissions from over 90 countries,” adding that “the other entries were absolutely stunning!”
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the ‘Everything Malta’ category featured several local stalwarts in the photography industry, including Darrin Zammit Lupi who placed third, Jonathan Borg, Mark Zammit Cordina and Nicholas Grech.
Neil Bugeja came in at fifth place in the Nature category, while another photograph by Darrin Zammit Lupi placed in the top 10 in the People category.
