Popular eatery The Black Egg has announced that it will be closing its doors permanently, as it transitions to new ownership.

The restaurant, located on Ta’ Xbiex seafront, was popular with brunch lovers for its diverse selection of food.

“After many wonderful years serving you, our restaurant will be closing its doors,” it shared on its Facebook page.

While thanking all loyal customers for being part of its journey, the restaurant expressed gratitude for all the support and the memories shared.

In 2020, The Black Egg joined other restaurants around Malta and raised eyebrows over its no-children-policy. At the time it had announced that children under the age of eight would not be allowed at the restaurant as it was “unfair to affect the dining experience of other guests.”

Furthermore, it had remarked that due to the restaurant’s size, strollers wouldn’t be allowed for the children and staff’s safety.

While this was criticised by many locals and deemed a trend, others had welcomed this initiative and thought it was reasonable.
