Sharona Frendo, a receptionist at The Phoenicia Malta, has been named the winner of the first-ever AICR Malta Receptionist of the Year Competition.

The win means she will now go on to represent Malta at the international finals of the AICR Best Receptionist of the World, taking place in Brussels, where she will compete alongside participants from 20 countries.

In a statement, The Phoenicia Malta said it is “incredibly proud” of her achievement, adding that “Sharona’s dedication, professionalism and exceptional guest care truly embody the spirit of The Phoenicia Malta.”

Meanwhile, Lakshika Sikka from Hilton Malta took first place, and Leah Fernandez from The Westin Dragonara Resort took second place. AICR Malta said that their “consistent professionalism, strong service mindset, and impressive performance throughout the ROTY Malta competition," earned them this achievement.

Ms Frendo's participation marks the first time Malta will be represented at the international competition under the newly established AICR Malta chapter, which formed earlier this year to strengthen professional development within the country’s front-office hospitality community.

Hans Joseph Cervera Maleriado, President of AICR Malta tells WhosWho.mt that this year is truly historic, “not only because we celebrate our ROTY Champion’s remarkable achievement, but also because the Malta delegation will proudly accept the hosting flag for AICR Experience 2027.”

He adds that for the first time, the world’s hospitality leaders and the stage of the World’s Best Receptionist will converge in Malta, placing the island “at the heart of international recognition and excellence in the hospitality industry.”

“This moment marks a milestone for our chapter and an unparalleled opportunity to showcase our talent, culture, and commitment to hospitality on a global stage,” he concludes.
