Popular online banking service Revolut has launched its latest product: SmartDelay. This feature provides Revolut Metal and Premium users free access to airport lounges should their flight be delayed by more than one hour.

According to Revolut’s Director of Communications and Marketing Chad West, in an interview given to BusinessToday last August, some 100,000 people are using the application in Malta – a mammoth market share considering the island’s size. The company is claiming that over nine million people around the world use Revolut.

Its latest feature, SmartDelay, has been rolled out on the latest update of the app. Once updated, Metal and Premium users may enter the flight number and airline into the app. The app will then track whether the flight is delayed or not, and for any delays over an hour, it will automatically send over free lounge access.

For those travelling with friends, Revolut is offering one extra lounge pass for Premium customers and three extra passes for Metal customers. The companions need not be Revolut customers to receive lounge access as Revolut provides an option for entering their details in the app and will then invite them to join you in the lounge.
