Posh Turkish on Wednesday announced that all proceeds from the opening day of its new restaurant in PAVI, Qormi, will go towards assisting those cities affected by the recent Turkey-Syria earthquakes.
The new restaurant is set to open on Friday (tomorrow) at noon.
This comes after Turkey and the upper part of Syria experienced a series of earthquakes over the course of the week, which has wreaked havoc in the area, resulting in a death toll that at the time of writing has passed 15,000. The worst-affected region experienced 7.8- and 7.5-magnitude earthquakes within a few hours of each other. Rescuers continue to try to pull survivors from the rubble, but this has been made more difficult since the area is currently experiencing freezing temperatures. Many survivors have since been forced to take refuge in their cars or under blankets in the streets, amid fears of further earthquakes.

Since then, various Governments, institutions, and businesses over the world have united to help those affected by the disaster, including teams from Malta's Civil Protection Department, who have flown out to the region to assist rescue operations.
The Turkish food chain’s management confirmed that all its revenue will be donated to the earthquake zone, “the epicentre of which is Kahramanmaraş", a province in Turkey where 10 cities have been affected.
The first Posh Turkish outlet was launched in 2016 at the PAMA shopping village in Mosta, and since then the chain has expanded, opening outlets in Gżira and Birżebbuġa. It has also opened outlets in Żabbar and The Quad, Birkirkara, under the Ottoman brand, which offers Turkish food with a Mediterranean twist.
