Paul Fenech, a respected figure in the English language teaching industry and the longest serving Swieqi Local Councillor, has passed away.

The news was announced by the Swieqi Local Council, which described Mr Fenech as "a valued colleague and a true friend" whose dedication to the locality left a lasting impact.

Mr Fenech was widely regarded as one of the pioneers of Malta's English language teaching sector.

In 1993, he partnered with the Vassallo Group to establish Magister Academy, helping to shape the school's development and serving as its CEO and Director for many years. Through his leadership, the institution welcomed thousands of international students to Malta and contributed to strengthening the country's reputation as a destination for English language learning.

Beyond his work at Magister Academy, Mr Fenech played an active role within the Federation of English Language Teaching Organisations Malta (FELTOM), where he contributed to the advancement and international promotion of Malta's English language teaching industry.

Alongside his professional achievements, Mr Fenech dedicated many years to public service through local government, and he was the town's longest serving Councillor. The Swieqi Local Council highlighted his significant contribution to the locality, particularly in the fields of arts and culture.

The council added that his guidance, wisdom and unwavering dedication would be greatly missed by all those who had the privilege of working alongside him.
