Darmanin Store in Paola is set to close down at the end of April, a spokesperson for the store has told WhosWho.mt.

The store, known for its footwear and owned by Darmanin Group, is holding a clearance sale at the Paola outlet throughout April. The sale, announced by Gallarija Darmanin and Teamsport, two brands also owned by Darmanin Group, includes substantial discounts, with prices starting from just €5.

Following this, WhosWho.mt contacted a spokesperson for Gallarija Darmanin, who confirmed that Darmanin Store will in fact be closing down at the end of April.

This spells the end for the sole Darmanin Store-branded outlet in Malta, with the others left either falling under the Darmanin Footwear, Gallarija Darmanin, or Teamsport brands.

Founded in 1923 as a small shoe shop in Valletta, Darmanin Group has grown over the years to become a recognisable brand in Malta. Presently in its fourth generation, the family business is one of Malta’s oldest retail companies. The Paola store, located at Triq Ħal Luqa, was opened in 2013.

It now has Gallarija Darmanin and Darmanin Footwear stores located in Tower Road (Sliema), The Point (Sliema), Zachary Street (Valletta), Mercury Towers (St Julian’s), Centerparc (Qormi), Iklin, and Republic Street (Valletta). Additionally, it also has Teamsport outlets in Iklin and Birkirkara.

The spokesperson also added that its Darmanin Footwear store at Republic Street, Valletta is currently closed for refurbishment.
