Nominations are now open for the second edition of the Malta Tourism Awards, a national initiative recognising excellence across Malta’s tourism industry, with submissions open until 31st January 2026.

The awards aim to acknowledge outstanding tourism service providers and professionals, while promoting high-quality service, responsible investment and innovation across the sector. They also seek to enhance Malta’s visibility as a leading tourism destination and highlight the breadth of career opportunities within the industry.

Organised under the stewardship of the Malta Tourism Authority, the awards are structured around three main categories.

The Responsible Tourism Development Award recognises tourism businesses that have invested in initiatives during 2025 supporting a resilient and future-focused tourism industry. Eligible nominations span accommodation, catering, transport, visitor attractions, travel services, diving centres and English language learning providers.

Submissions must demonstrate at least one of the following: digitalisation, human resources training and upskilling, sustainability and decarbonisation, or innovation and future readiness. Digital presence will also form part of the evaluation process.

The Tourism Worker of the Year Award celebrates individual workers who delivered exceptional service in 2025, going beyond their required duties. Categories cover core tourism sectors including accommodation, catering, transport, travel services, tourist guiding, diving and language learning.

Nominations must be submitted by the employer, with micro-business owners permitted to nominate themselves.

A new Special Theme Recognition has been introduced to highlight niche tourism sectors. The first recognition will focus on LGBTIQ+ Tourism, covering initiatives undertaken between 2023 and 2025. Future editions will spotlight Faith and Religious Tourism and Screen Tourism, following a three-year thematic plan.

The nomination deadline for the LGBTIQ+ Tourism recognition is also 31st January 2026.

Further details and nomination forms are available through the official Malta Tourism Awards channels.
