MAPFRE Malta has urged clients who suffered damage in today morning's fireworks factory explosion in the Magħtab area to notify the insurer as soon as possible so claims can be processed without delay.

In a statement issued following the incident, MAPFRE said it wants to ensure all affected clients receive the support they need quickly. The company has asked policyholders to submit details of any damage through a dedicated claims form here

The explosion occurred at around 6:30am at the Lourdes Fireworks Factory on Triq il-Qadi, sending a powerful blast across the surrounding area.

Police said the explosion caused damage to nearby properties, although all workers at the site and neighbouring residents were accounted for. Two men, aged 47 and 67, who were working in nearby fields were taken to hospital suffering from shock and slight injuries.

Residents in the vicinity reported shattered windows and damage to homes and apartments, while this newsroom has also been informed that some livestock was injured in the blast.

MAPFRE said that submitting the required information promptly will help the company process claims efficiently and assist affected clients without unnecessary delays.
