The Charles & Ron brand has branched out from its core fashion business and is now about to open a café in Naxxar.

Although the company has not made any official announcements as of yet, passers-by noticed that the café’s signage had been changed and now features the fashion house’s iconic logo along with the words “Charles & Ron Café”

Charles & Ron, owned and operated by Charles and Ron Van Maarschalkerweerd Borg, is a renowned local fashion brand with outlets in Valletta, Sliema, and soon, Naxxar too.

The power couple have taken over the premises formerly occupied by LOFT Café, part of a larger building including LOFT furniture store.

LOFT Café had closed down in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, and had over the summer confirmed that it would remain closed indefinitely.

The adjacent furniture shop is also seeking to relocate to new premises, it announced in September.

The Charles & Ron website lists 21 Saint Paul Street as a outlet that is "coming soon", leaving the door open to rumours that its LOFT takeover will extend beyond the café.

LOFT is owned by Josette Schembri Vella, wife of the former Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff Keith Schembri, who is under investigation by police for a number of crimes, including receiving kickbacks related to the IIP scheme and perjury and obstruction of justice related to the assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
