MyConvenience has opened a new outlet on St Lucia Street, Valletta, as the retail group continues expanding its presence following its rebranding earlier this year.
The store, described by the company as offering a “clean, modern look” and everyday essentials including fresh fruit and vegetables, snacks, drinks and household items, is now operating and serving customers.
The opening comes shortly after The Convenience Shop rebranded its network to MyConvenience and MySupermarket in September. The shift was positioned as part of a wider effort to modernise the retail experience and create a more unified customer-facing identity across Malta and Gozo.
The group now operates 100 active outlets, spanning both brands.
This latest opening follows a year in which the company continued to invest, even as profitability was impacted by market pressures.
Financial statements for the year ended 31st December 2024 show:
- Group turnover remained flat at €46.4 million.
- Gross profit declined to €5.9 million (2023: €6.8 million).
- Profit before tax fell to €1.6 million, down from €3.1 million the previous year.
- Adjusted EBITDA under IFRS 16 stood at €3.4 million (2023: €4.5 million).
Despite this, the group maintained its rollout strategy, noting continued consumer demand for accessible, small-format retail outlets.
The business began 16 years ago, when founders Ivan Calleja and Joseph Pace opened the first outlet in Żebbuġ, identifying a gap in the FMCG market as consumer lifestyles shifted toward convenience-shopping formats. They were later joined by Manuel Piscopo and Kevin Deguara, who helped drive the company’s nationwide expansion.
