Ever wondered how apps, websites, or online forms work? Coding is the skill behind it all, and no technical background is required to get started. If you’ve never tried coding before but you’re curious, the Boost Your Coding Scheme is a great way to take your first step.

Run by the Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA), the scheme helps beginners learn the basics and get up to €1,000 back as reimbursement once they successfully finish an MDIA approved course. It’s open to anyone aged 16 and over, and it’s built for beginners, with no prior experience needed.

Applicants may select a beginner course from the Boost Your Coding Catalogue or propose the addition of other coding courses to MDIA. After identifying a course, an application form must be submitted to MDIA to secure funding. Upon successful completion, a claims form may be submitted to request reimbursement.

Beyond financial support, the scheme offers the opportunity to move from simply using technology to actively creating it. Coding builds an understanding of what happens behind the scenes of digital tools and enables the development of new skills, even at an introductory level. For those interested in strengthening their digital capabilities, the Boost Your Coding Scheme provides a practical starting point.
