Prime Minister Robert Abela inaugurated a series of infrastructural projects by Marina Di Valletta Ltd with a a total investment of €1 million that led to the development of new offices, quality facilities for the company’s clients, and a new restaurant.

The investment complements investments over the last years totalling 6.5 million.

Prime Minister Abela remarked that Malta was on the global map as the most prominent flag state in Europe and the sixth largest in the world, and stated that this is the result of the excellent service the country offers in this sector.

“Our regulatory authorities always created a professional environment to welcome such investments. The maritime sector is a very important one for Malta.”

He explained that over the last four years the country had also registered a 65 per cent increase in the registration of superyachts.

“This success is the result of an emphasis on quality,” he said.

He confirmed the Government’s commitment to continue investing in the maritime sector to continue creating quality jobs.

President of Azimut Benetti Group Paolo Vitelli said the day marked the completion of the infrastructure for yachts in Malta and the beginning of the full operation of the marina.

“This latest investment places the Marina di Valletta at the highest level of the Mediterranean market.”

Mr Vitelli also expressed his satisfaction with the assistance received on an administrative level, with constant cooperation.

“We are ready to conduct more business on this beautiful island, which we feel is our natural home,” concluded the Group’s President.

Marina di Valletta is a consortium of foreign and local investors, with Azimut Benetti Group subsidiary Marina di Varazze SRL holding just over half the shares.

Local investors include Esprit Yachting, Arrigo Group of Hotels, Joinwell and Tal-Magħtab Construction.
